Deployment: Users can deploy the BIS-WDS® GEN 2 virtually anywhere!

With indoor and outdoor imaging capabilities and compact size that accommodates wall or pole mounting, users have a wide range of deployment flexibility. And because the system operates silently and its sensors image through such materials as cloth, wallpaper and some types of drywall, users can even deploy units covertly.

Functional Considerations:
Standard deployment: Indoor and outdoor environments. Some indoor settings and all outdoor deployment may require environment altering as specified by certified implementation personnel.

Indoor deployment considerations: Ambient air temperature not to regularly exceed 26° C (80° F). Anomalous heat sources behind walls and beneath floors. Sources of energy including sky access and reflective interior surfaces.

Covert deployment considerations:
Based upon site sensitivity, potential risks or internal security protocols, users may choose a covert system deployment. Doing so would allow the system and/or security personnel to survey the deployment location without alerting potential subject person to the surveillance or disguise the unit to maintain site aesthetics.

When contemplating a covert deployment, users must consider the BIS-WDS® GEN 2 operation requirements as well as the millimeter wave properties of the materials used within the deployment and concealment site. In addition, users must reconcile the preferred concealment method (installing the unit behind a drywall partition for instance), required third-party ancillary equipment and costs associated with implementing the concealed deployment.

Other deployment considerations: Traditional CCTV deployment considerations apply. Minimize saturation – Avoid facing system directly into sunlight (CCTV camera consideration) or at the sky (millimeter wave system component consideration). Though the radiometer can operate in low- or no-light settings, the integral CCTV component requires lighting the FOV for effective video imaging.

Throughput: Minimize delays as BIS-WDS® GEN 2 detects at full-motion speeds!

Detect hidden materials at full-motion speeds as subjects walk normally through the system’s view. By integrating with flow control devices, the system can automatically queue subjects requiring further investigation into appropriate screening lanes, reducing required personnel and security operations costs.

Throughput Considerations:
High-throughput environments: Brijot recommends choosing a multi-camera deployment and integrating the system with automated flow-controls such as turnstiles designed to permit one person to pass at a time. Our multi-unit high-throughput deployments can accommodate up to 720 people per hour—that’s 12 people per minute or one person every five seconds!

Low-throughput environments: Areas with an attendant—either local or remote—a user may elect to deploy a single GEN 2 system and instruct each subject to make a complete turn, allowing the system to see all sides.
